Gertie’s Garden was the first project from Stories from the Kitchen Table.
The group developed the characters and story first and then made all the puppets and scenery for a performance. During this time they worked with professional artists developing skills in design, printing, sewing, clay modelling, and collage.
The next phase of the project was devising and rehearsing. During this process the script takes shape and many changes happen, developing skills in resilience and team work as well as performance. The group also worked with a musician to create the sounds for the show.
We invited parents, carers and supporters to join us at Barton Laws, Wigton, for an intimate sharing of the show and an exhibition of the work created throughout the project.
