Mark Newport – Musician & Coder

Mark Newport is a professional musician with extensive knowledge and experience of the music industry. As a performer, composer, arranger, and music producer himself, Mark can help anyone to achieve their musical ambitions.

As a violinist, Mark has played with a variety of bands and performers. Working with Storytellers to playing in Celtic Rock Bands, from small intimate acoustic performances to large festival stages, he knows his way around the stage and the recording studio.

Mark has worked extensively with community groups throughout his career. He facilitates the making of people’s musical dreams. The contexts of this work are as diverse as his knowledge of musical genres. From working on school productions, community street art projects, hospital wards, day care centres, the list goes on. At the core of Marks ideology is the idea that Art and Music should be accessible to everybody.

As someone with extensive knowledge of orchestration and music arrangement, Mark is able to work with almost any performance ensemble. He could rehearse a choir or work with a rock band for example. Mark is particularly experienced at enabling people with additional learning needs to engage in music making activities.

In his community practice Mark uses some of the latest recording studio technology. A portable recording setup incorporates some of the latest music software and hardware available to the industry, the type of stuff that you will be familiar with from watching your favourite TV shows, films and listening to your favourite music artists. Combined with an extensive knowledge of music theory, and huge experience of producing music, he is able to help you make what you hear in your mind into a polished performance or piece. This could be for a film, an animation, a theatre performance or any other purpose for which original music is required.
